Grattis! Som sagt, välförtjänt :) I mina ögon ett "80's Game" precis lika mycket som alla andra (om inte mer!).

But the music was made on a c64...if that's not retro then i don't know what is. :-)

Ehh, congratulations, then. I think there were games that went with the theme better, but hey. Congratulations!

During the weekend, me and my brother finally managed to beat Erik's excellent score. If you want to see the highscore without having to start up the game and commit suicide ten times, visit this link: http://www.dynamicentertainment.se/system/gravitrex/report.php

Please SGA, give us some info :)
Has the judge tried the games yet? Did he have someone to play the multiplayer games with? What will the prize be for the community favorite? When will the winners be announced, and where? When is it ok to update our game? We have an autoupdate feature, so as soon as it's ok we can put up some bugfixes for our game, but we didn't want to do that during the contest, since that would be like cheating.

The music in this game was not only created with inspiration from my great c64 music heroes like Rob Hubbard and Martin Galway, but also with a tracker made by Jens Christian Huus back in the days for the c64. I stumbled upon the original program-file on Google and loaded that in to a c64 emulator to create the sid file that was later converted and used in the game.

So you're saying that you got that score with the hypersensitive game? That's really impressive, if it is true. But the game is pretty sensitive when it's working too, so maybe you just misunderstood. If you set your graphics card to vertical sync always on, you should be ok. This doesn't seem to work for me in windowed mode, however, on my work computer which has an Ati card.

Sorry 'bout the weird name, had no idea you had an online highscore :). That's really cool though. I must say I had a lot of fun with it, after I managed to get a hang of the controls that is. I'm not sure how to get rid of that sensitivity you mentioned with the key presses. Took a lot of wall hits before I adjusted to it. Anyways, well done and good luck.

Someone named EEE&EEE beat mine and Onni's score with a score of around 92000pts, but I just took back the title with a score of over 110000pts :) Oh, did we forget to mention the internet highscores? Hehe. Maybe if people know that, they will enter more rational names. We wanted to give the feeling of an arcade game down at the mall, that other people have played on since the last time you were there. That's why we included them but didn't mention them.

Sorry about that, but one week means not much time for optimizations. I could probably fix that if I sat down with it. But the question is if it's worth it after the competition. It was a fun week and even more fun the last half-hour before deadline. We were yelling across the rooms, stuff like "WTF, now the title screen is gone, what did you do!" -"Oh, sorry, I accidentally removed one of your lines of code!" -"You twat, it's less than 30 minutes left! Don't do that!" It was chaos... Oh well, long story short, I love these warm-ups and am already waiting for next year's. :)

Now I'm almost spamming, but if you have a widescreen monitor, edit the file options.cfg. At least the post-its will look a little better, even if the game won't. If anyone really wants it, I THINK I could create a widescreen-compliant exe. Also, of course, if such an update would be allowed after the deadline. Otherwise, you can just set it to windowed mode of course.

I just tried this game on my work computer, and the ship was way too sensitive. Make sure you have VSYNC activated on your graphics card for this game!

How many levels have you completed Fabian? There is a Post-it with a secret hint on level 5 :) And if you have seen it, don't tell anyone. It's a secret, remember?
But I guess sooner or later, we should let people know about it...

You should honestly consider to release this commercially, if you dont I will :) , if it shows up on xbox live I wouldn't hesitate to buy it (it can be the first game ever that truly uses the analog in the triggers).

Regarding the newline stuff, there are like 100 different ways to handle that, each with pros and cons. Finding and adapting a good solution is not on top of our priorities. For now, you can use <br/> tags.

The vector graphics are truly awsome made! I heard that the first videogames were made on ocilloscopes. The blur is there becource it take some time before the light powder (that covers the screen) fade out. A problem we also had with the early TFT-screens (and still have if you are CS-gay).

Just to clarify what Onni is trying to say, the Vectrex had a Vector monitor. Take a look at this really close up photo of a vectrex screen. No antialias in the world could give us a true Vectrex image quality. http://schoenekuenste.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/silogruppe-projekt-johanneskirche-vectrex.jpg It's too bad that we get complaints about the very effects that we added just to make it MORE 80's style. And by the way, Fabian, the Asteroids arcade game (which also used a vector monitor) is from 1979, followed by a deluxe version in 1980. But since a decade is ten years long, a lot happened with the look and feel of games from 1980 to 1990 I guess.

Andreas, antialiasing and blur are pixel effects there to emulate what a true vector-screen looks like. If you look at an old oscilloscope, the lines aren't pixelated bacause they aren't built from pixels. And those sceens have a sort of built in blur.

You are maybe right.. I guess I was thinking about the arcades that the console was made after - they are a bit older.

I still think the graphics are too good to be on a vectrex - You have blur and antialiasing :P

The Vectrex console, which was the inspiration for the graphics, is from 1982. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vectrex

Your Viking Vote
I will go through every game and give my opinion about it. I love games, I love making games and I want to support the people making them.

Fun: 5
Innovation: 4
Graphics: 5
80-stylish: 3
Total: 4

The Good:
The controls feel incredible and the physics are impressive. Co-op!! I will defenetly play it again!
The Bad:
The game style feels to old to be from the 80s. The game would be even more fun if you were really forced to co-operate - like having to pass a area at the exact same time or you will explode or something.

It's all about manifests...

So, the configuration mentioned is a manifest, if you fo to project properties and disable manifest generation you won't have such a problem.

NUKED and PROPER:ed

Unbelievable! We got the exakt same problem as last year! It works fine on computers with Visual Studio installed, but on other computers, it says the program configuration is wrong, whatever that means. Anyway, we managed to fix it, and uploaded a new exe, so you need to replace the game's exe with that one.
